Pinterest download resolution and file formats

Understand pixel dimensions, file size and video quality.

A value such as 1080 × 1920 describes pixel dimensions. MB describes storage size. A larger file does not necessarily look sharper or have better quality.

For images, the accessible option with the largest pixel area is chosen. Carousel cards may have different resolutions. The available source file is preserved.

Direct MP4 video options are preferred. HLS conversion selects the highest bandwidth supported variant supplied by the source playlist. Its media is copied into an MP4 container without re-encoding.

JPG, PNG and WebP are image formats; MP4 is a video container. Renaming a file extension does not convert its format. If you need another format, open the file in your own image or video editor and export it.
